Milk teeth 2025
Clay, oxides, iron, glaze
A naïve and trusting duck wearing a bonnet. The duck is not allowed to keep the eggs she lays at the farm, so seeks out a nesting place in the forest. The milk teeth were the first set of teeth, developed before birth and erupting during infancy. They can be found hanging on the wings of the angel.
This piece nods to the north, the angel made by Gormley, which serves multiple symbolic meanings, recognising sacrifice, the working class and points of transition. It’s creation felt important, as I grappled with her broken wing before she went in for firing. Perhaps she was cooked alongside sage and onion after all.
