Cabinet of Curiosities, 2024

Clay, iron oxide, glaze

The cabinet photographed sits in two environments - within a ceramics studio, and on a mantle alongside several small pieces I made which respond to and process my environment around me. Photographed is a tampon - needle felted with Calderdale sheep’s wool to create a mouse, a Christmas cactus flower covered in white fly and some plaster cast eggs. Propped up against it is a piece I made embodying a spider’s egg, a regurgitated owl pellet, full of beasties and a wasp-like cocoon.

Within the cabinet is a crystal bound in wire, and a fine lace crochet snowflake.

It has a “Robert Mouseman” style mouse peaking at the top.
