Sheath 2024
Clay, Glaze, Iron, Cotton, Metal
A swan, knitting using four needles and a sheath tucked in at the hip to create two spider webs. The swan wears a Venetian plague doctor’s mask.
The piece muses on the individual/group experience and the inter-connectivity of people in time and space. It draws upon my love of “Maman” by Louise Bourgeois and the experiences of facing up to fear. I think it also muses on identity and heritage, things inherited, and knowledge passed on.
